Ecommerce giant Amazon has brought the Alexa Skill Blueprints feature to India which lets users create their own personal Alexa skills in minutes.
In an official blog post, Amazon said users can create skills across various categories such as games, learning and knowledge using 30 templates.
Amazon had first launched Alexa Blueprints in April 2018 for the virtual assistant in the US. Creating a skill using Blueprints requires no knowledge of coding on the user’s part. Users can use a fill-in-the-blanks format to create skills and launch them in minutes, the company claims.
“With today’s announcement, we are excited to launch four new Skill Blueprints built specifically for content creators, bloggers, and organizations, so they can reach anyone with an Alexa-enabled device – with no coding required,” said Dilip R.S., country manager for Alexa Skills, Amazon India.
Amazon has been bullish on Indianising its AI-based personal assistant Alexa. Recently, it partnered with Bengaluru-based real estate developer Embassy Group to introduce its virtual voice assistant Alexa to operate smart homes.
Last year, it had also launched a new category of Alexa skills called “Cleo” to help the Indian users teach Hindi and other Indian regional languages to Alexa, by simply speaking to the AI-powered assistant.
New Alexa Skill Blueprints With India Launch
With the India launch of Blueprints, Amazon has announced new skill formats that users in eligible countries can explore.
Flash Briefing: Content creators will be able to use this blueprint to publish and share their latest updates on the Alexa Skills Store. Users will be able to add the content into their Flash Briefing just as they do for other Flash Briefing skills.
Blog: Bloggers who publish their content using WordPress can now also publish their posts as audio through Alexa with this template.
University: Educational institutes can post their live updates and audio files on Alexa devices using this skill.
Spiritual Talks: Religious organisations can use this blueprints to post their live and recorded audio content on Alexa-enabled devices.
Fable or Fairy Tale: This storytelling skills can help authors and aspiring writers share their stories.
Trivia: This skill is designed for tutors to help students use Alexa to help them learn new concepts when playing games.
Quiz: History buffs can use the blueprints to create a fun and interesting quiz for their community.
