There are plenty of marketplaces that have launched in India in the past few years, which not only show the potential of ecommerce in the country but also points out the fact that there is sheer competition among these due to the fact that they are targeting almost same categories and audience. While it’s not difficult for any new player to enter this space, however survival is if they are not able to bring something new on table. Well it seems like IndiaMART understood this pretty well.
The online listing platforms for small and medium businesses, IndiaMART, has launched an online marketplace – Tolexo.com offering industrial and construction goods.

There are number of players offering products in niche categories but still there are about 2-3 similar players in that particular segment for instance; for Lingerie there is Zivame, Pretty Secrets and MoodsOfCloe; similarly for furniture there is UrbanLadder, FabFurnish and others.
But hardly there is any marketplace selling products targeted towards business and industry. Launched just a few weeks back Tolexo.com is an online store for Business & Industry and aims to become the largest collection of essential products for businesses, factories, offices and labs in India and to become the one-stop solution for all commercial product requirements.
Tolexo is offering about 50,000 products across categories including safety, fasteners, hand tools, power tools and others. It will be focusing on growing the merchant base and product assortment to start with and will be looking at growing the product catalog to over 1 Million products over the next 12 months.
There are over 100 sellers who have already registered with it and it is offering sellers both shipping as well as the stock and ship model.
IndiaMART.com, an online business to business (B2B) marketplace backed by Intel Capital with Bennett, Coleman & Company Ltd as one of its investors, offers a platform & tools to over 1.4 Million suppliers to generate business leads from over 6.5 Million buyers. It had reported a revenue of INR 200 Cr as of March 2014. There are over 1.25 lakh leads being generated every month on IndiaMart. The company has over 2800 employees located across 50+ offices in the country. Last year it had introduced IndiaMART’s mobile site — m.indiamart.com and an Android App as well.
