Gurugram-based HRtech startup Leena AI, on Tuesday (November 3), announced that it has raised $8 Mn in a Series A funding round led by Greycroft to expand its go-to-market programme and accelerate product development.

Cornerstone OnDemand’s founder Adam Miller, Greycroft’s chairperson Alan Patricof and Deloitte Consulting’s former CEO and chairperson Jim Moffat have also participated in the round. With this, Greycroft’s partner Mark Terbeek will be joining Leena AI’s board of directors.

Prior to this, the company had raised $2 Mn in seed funding round from a host of Silicon Valley investors, back in 2018. The Gurugram-based startup was a part of the summer batch 2018 of Y Combinator, along with ZiffyHomes, Khatabook and OkCredit.

Leena AI was founded in 2015 by Adit Jain, Mayank Goyal and Anand Prajapati. The company had started its journey with ChatterOn, a platform that helps people build their own chatbots. In 2017, the company launched Leena AI as a provider of virtual assistants for the workplace to focus on human resource chatbot, which can process conversation employees.

The bot can be integrated into Slack, Skype or Workplace by Facebook. It is built and trained using the information in policy documents and by pulling data from various back-end systems like Oracle and SAP.

The latest funding will allow the company to continue its momentum by helping the enterprises to modernise their legacy internal helpdesk systems and enhance their employee experience.

The company, in its press release, highlights that the traditional internal helpdesk systems take longer for employees to get answers from HR teams. Leena AI leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically answer repetitive employee queries in real-time and enables HR to better support employees.

With Leena AI, businesses streamline their employee workflows while uncovering unmet employee needs and process gaps, the company says.

“Legacy internal help desks are simply not meeting the needs of the world’s top enterprises. They are not user friendly, are tough to deploy and lack intelligence. Leena AI Service Delivery suite changes that – bringing the consumer experience to enterprise employees,” Jain said, highlighting that the funding will elevate employee experience through AI-powered conversations and insights.

The company claims to have added more than 100 enterprise customers in the last 9 months, which includes Lafarge Holcim, Abbott, CocaCola, AirAsia, Vodafone, Sony Pictures and more. This translates to 150K new employees added to its networking, increasing its revenue of 350%. The company had also expanded its team to 75 people.
