Karnataka-based startup HomeLane which provides modular home furnishing solutions, has launched its innovative virtual reality-based device called the Kaleido.

This Google Cardboard-based device, helps to check out a 3D rendition of kitchen (or any room), with the ability to customize different setups such as changing colours, appliances, and finishes, thus helping them to make choices.

In simple words, you could see a three dimensional rendition of the kitchen’s design that you haven’t bought and also you’ll be able to change and choose colours, finishes, appliances like hobs and chimneys and the details like style of the cabinet handles, the countertop, the flooring and the backsplash without paying a single penny.

Commenting on the new product, HomeLane’s co-founder and CEO Srikanth Iyer said, “We are using technology to completely revolutionize how people furnish their dream homes and the launch of HomeLane Kaleido is a major milestone in this direction. We expect Kaleido to be a game changer in the home furnishing industry and make it dramatically convenient for a new home owner to decide on the perfect design, color and look for their dream home.”

How Kaleido works:

  1. User’s choice is sent to the HomeLane designers through Kaleido.
  2. Designer then creates a 3D model fitting to the needs of the user.
  3. Following this,  designer personally visit the customer to enable  further customisation of the design.

HomeLane promises a transparent and flawless manufacturing and installation process. It offers a guaranteed installation in six weeks from order date, along with providing durable furnishing made of quality materials that come with a 5-year warranty.

Currently, Kaleido is operational in Bangalore and a client (Rashmi) has already used this device to furnish her new home. She said that the ability to see how a modular kitchen or bedroom wardrobe will look like without investing a single rupee is a huge plus point for a buyer. According to her, “HomeLane Kaleido is by far the best way to make home furnishing decisions, as it helped me quickly zero in on the perfect look for my home.”
