It was in May 2017 that Power Minister Piyush Goyal announced that India managed to get to the 26th spot on World Bank’s electricity accessibility ranking in the current year, compared to the 99th spot in 2014. He also went on to say that by 2019, the government will be able to provide power to every household. If the government is able to pull this off, it will be three years ahead of schedule.

In the global energy markets, India has the world’s third-largest electricity generation system, after China and the United States. Despite this position, the country tops the charts for having the world’s largest population without reliable access to electricity. About 250 Mn out of the total population still do not have access to electricity.

For a developing economy like India, it is crucial to bring in the sustainable development of its resources. Energy technology or Energytech is an interdisciplinary engineering science having to do with the efficient, safe, environmentally friendly and economical extraction, conversion, transportation, storage and use of energy. It is targeted towards yielding high efficiency whilst skirting side effects on humans, nature and the environment.

Over the year, different sources of energy have been explored, but there is still a long way to go to conserve and adopt advanced energy conservation. This paves the way for businesses and startups to innovate and find new ideas for the next stage of development.

Here, startups like Zenatix are providing energy management products. Its latest invention WattMan, aims to help retail and BFSI businesses save up to 20% of their energy bills. It ensures governance, quality of service and risk mitigation across the distributed infrastructure through automated and intelligent controls. Then there is CIIE-Ahmedabad incubated Ecolibrium Energy, which offers support to commercial and industrial enterprises for optimising productivity and reducing expenditure by lowering energy consumption as well as asset maintenance costs. Other startups in this space include Afero, Heapsylon, K4Connect and Greenbird.

Despite the work being done by the startups mentioned above, there is still a wide gap between energy needs and its supply.  Most users are still unaware of the implementation of these technologies in industrial units. Therefore, in order to educate the masses about energy conservation and to advance energy savings in unit operations in the industry, Kolkata-based EnergyTech Ventures will host an Energy Data Analytics Summit in India. The summit is scheduled to be held on September 8, 2017 in Delhi.

EnergyTech Ventures is a joint venture between E-Cube Energy and Indus Net Technologies, a leading digital service provider. The Kolkata-based energy data analytics solutions provider, EnergyTech Ventures, is targeting SMEs and large enterprises for effective utilisation of energy resources. E-Cube Energy represents systematic, evidence and data-led processes in identifying and assessing opportunities to advance energy conservation and thereby increase savings in unit operations in the industry.

In less than six months of operations, EnergyTech Ventures has been able to work with clients like Welspun India Limited, India Power, Sanghi Cements Limited, SIDBI, Shakti Foundation and TERI.

The Energy Data Analytics Summit will bring together business leaders from industries, policy makers, government agencies and startups from the energy domain under one platform. They will ideate, discuss and promote ways for a wider adoption of data analytics and technology, to foster energy productivity across industries and SMEs.

The summit will witness a fireside chat with speakers like Dr. Ajay Mathur (TERI), Dr. Satish Kumar (Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy) Damandeep Singh (Carbon Disclosure Project -India), Vandana Gombar (Bloomberg, New Energy Finance), Prabir Neogi (RP- Sanjiv Goenka Group). Apart from this lineup, dignitaries from Shakti Foundation, The Climate Group, EnergyPro and Bosch, etc., will be present at the Energy Data Analytics Summit.

On the sidelines of the summit, EnergyTech Ventures will launch a Micro Services Hub, a marketplace where users can select from the pool of sector-specific APIs (Application Program Interface) or contribute their own APIs. The launch will include APIs on sectors like textile, foundry, among others, developed by EnergyTech Ventures.

Apart from this, the company will also announce the launch of the upcoming AIR (Ask, Innovate, Reduce) series of workshops during the Summit.

With the Energy Data Analytics Summit, EnergyTech Ventures is looking to explore a collaborative approach between industries, policy makers and development agencies to tackle global warming. Apart from this collaboration, the summit will also look to strengthen the Indian economy to embrace changing scenarios in the energy markets.
