Mumbai-based domestic help provider startup BookMyBai has raised an undisclosed amount in pre-series A funding round led by Japan-based social venture fund ARUN Seed. Other Japanese angel investors had also participated in this round.
The platform plans to use the fresh funding to help increase its market share in the existing cities, and also to expand their geographical reach in Hyderabad and Delhi.
According to media reports, co-founder Anupam Sinhal stated that the startup is also planning to launch multilingual app to help the workers search for job real time.
This latest funding comes after the startup raised $135.7K (INR 1 Cr) in November 2015 from a Hyderabad-based investment firm 50K Ventures.
BookMyBai: Journey So Far
Bookmybai was founded in 2015 by Anupam Sinhal, Vikash Chowdhury. The platform works as an aggregator for domestic maid bureaus where users can hire domestic help such as babysitters, cook, senior citizen, housemaids.
The users can also search and select for domestic help after reviewing their profile and can also watch their recorded interviews.
At present, the startup offers its services in Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
According to the official website, the platform has a database of 50K maids who have been registered after document verification.
Further, the users may choose to pay only after the help has been hired. Replacement of the help during any kind of problems is also available.
Some of the major players in this space are startups such as MyDidi, MrRight, MyChores, Helper4u, among many others.
Startups working in this space are not only very helpful for the users to find their domestic help online more easily and efficiently, but in the long run, these startups also help the workers, especially the women from the marginalised community to support their families and become independent.
Startups like Bookmybai have been making a significant social impact by helping many workers to find job and sustain their livelihoods.
