DocsApp Acquires DocWise, Aims At Better Network And Engagement

Bengaluru-based online doctor consultation platform DocsApp has acquired DocWise, another Bengaluru-based patient-doctor engagement optimisation platform, for an undisclosed amount.

Post-acquisition, DocWise will add to DocsApp’s growing doctor network and enrich its engagement with the community. Further, DocWise co-founders Rahul Gupta and Samar Ahmed will head the consumer business and doctor ecosystem respectively.

Founded in 2015, DocWise helps doctors optimise their post-consultation patient engagement such as managing follow-ups and manage avoidable patient clinic visits. The platform claims to have a network of 1000 doctors and has completed more than one lakh consultations.

The company has been backed by former Flipkart executives as well as top angel investors via LetsVenture. Gupta said, “Together we share a vision to make quality healthcare accessible to billions. The decision to combine forces with DocsApp will allow us to strengthen our position in the digital healthcare segment.”

Meanwhile, DocsApp was founded in 2015 by IIT-Madras alumni Satish Kannan and Enbasekar Dinadayalane. It offers an AI-focussed platform to connect with more than 5000 specialist doctors for consultations over video calls, voice call and an in-built chat application.

DocsApp also provides consultation across 15 specialties including dermatology, gynaecology, sexology, paediatrics, psychiatry, general medicine and weight management among others. The platform also allows the user to order medicines and book diagnostic tests online.

The company has raised $10.1 Mn from investors such as InnoVen Capital, GSF Accelerator, IIT Madras Incubation Center, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal, founder and Srikanth Sundararajan of Helion Venture Partners.

Kannan said, “We live in a tech-centric world, and patients expect access to quality healthcare at the touch of a button. DocWise has not only enabled doctors to streamline the queues at their clinic, but also helped bridge the doctor-patient communication gap.”

Earlier, the company said that it is looking to launch the DocsApp interface in several other regional languages, apart from Hindi and English. Also, in the future, DocsApp plans to make provisions which will enable the users to take unlimited specialist doctor consultations for his/her family.

According to a January 2018 report by IBEF, the Indian healthcare sector is expected to advance at a CAGR of 22% during 2016-2022 to reach $372 Bn by 2022. According to DataLabs by Inc42 estimates, the total market size of the healthcare industry in India is projected to be $202 Bn this year. This is a growth of 84% from the $110 Bn market size in the year 2016.
