Digit Insurance, LogMeIn Come Forward To Help Battle Coronavirus

After claiming the lives of over 2.5K individuals globally, coronavirus has now become a big nightmare for the world. With around six new registered cases of coronavirus-led disease Covid-19 in India, the fear and panic has grown significantly in the minds of Indians as well. And now, startups are joining the response and fight against coronavirus.

As the cost associated with the treatment of coronavirus is said to be high, Bengaluru-based insurance company Digit Insurance has launched an insurance product for coronavirus-impacted individuals in India. Under this new product, customers can opt for an insurance cover which ranges from INR 25K to INR 2 Lakh. The minimum premium for the insurance is INR 299 per month.

The insurance cover has been built under Digit’s health insurance product Digit Health Care Plus. The company claims that it has filed the coronavirus-related insurance product under IRDAI’s sandbox regulations which encourage insurance providers to launch and test innovative products for the Indian market.

Once a user is diagnosed coronavirus positive from any of the authorised centres of ICMR – National Institute of Virology, the company will reimburse 100% of the claim amount. Digit claims that a user doesn’t have to wait for the completion of treatment to get this claim.

Moreover, in case a government or army hospital advises a quarantine, Digit will provide 50% of the claim amount for a consecutive period of 14 days even if an individual is later diagnosed coronavirus negative.

For settling claims, an individual doesn’t have to submit medical bills to Digit to get the claim. They can simply send a certificate from a government medical officer to start the treatment for Covid-19.

The launch of a coronavirus insurance product by Digit Insurance comes after it raised $84 Mn funding from A91 Partners, Faering Capital and TVS Capital at a post-money valuation of about $870 Mn last month.

LogMeIn Offers Remote Access Software

Besides Digit, US-based SaaS provider LogMeIn has also come up with a unique proposition to help organisations in the fight against coronavirus. LogMeIn is now offering access to its collaboration and remote access software for free to governments, municipalities, educational institutions, healthcare organisations, and non-profits.

According to LogMeIn, the platform named as ‘Emergency Remote Work Kits’ provides meetings and video conferencing solutions which facilitate webinars and virtual events, remote IT support, and remote device access to ensure these critical organisations stay connected when it matters most.

Moreover, Georgia-based developer of blockchain-enabled applications Acoer is also providing blockchain technology to easily track and visualise the outbreak. Acoer’s HashLog dashboard helps researchers, scientists, and journalists to get real-time information related to coronavirus including confirmed cases, deaths and recoveries per hundred infections, and trends over time. All this information is provided in interactive designs with dynamic sort and filtering options.
