Eternal founder Deepinder Goyal is exploring launching a wearable device company ‘Temple’, sources told Inc42.

The company will focus primarily on selling wearable devices that monitor health. However, discussions are at early stages and nothing is finalised yet.

The website of Temple displays a message “Coming Soon”, without any specific dates. “The future of health starts where no one’s looking. Inside your brain,” the message says.

Notably, Goyal, last week, posted pictures on social media which were taken at an event of Eternal’s non-profit ‘Feeding India’. Goyal’s picture, in which he was standing next to Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa, went viral because of a device he was wearing on the right side of his face, near the temple area. This led to speculations on social media platforms about what the device was.

A couple of days after it, Goyal’s biological research initiative Continue Research unveiled its first hypothesis, Gravity Ageing. As per the hypothesis, gravity’s lifelong pull on blood circulation in the brain may be a key reason behind the ageing of humans.

Commenting on a post on LinkedIn, Goyal said that Continue Research had to make an experimental device to calculate blood flow to the brain accurately and in real time. The device he was wearing in the picture was the same one, which Goyal said he has been using for a year.

The new company is expected to sell this device. “It is an experimental device being used for research purposes right now and is only being supplied to research institutes around the world,” one of the sources told Inc42.

Inc42 is yet to receive a response from Continue Research and Goyal on queries sent.

“Brain Flow is already well accepted as a biomarker for ageing, longevity as well as cognition. So this device is useful and relevant even if the Gravity Ageing Hypothesis turns out to be wrong,” Goyal said in response to the aforementioned LinkedIn post.

He added that Temple is going to be a “small, cute company”, if at all, and it will be “nothing” compared to Eternal.

Continue Research’s hypothesis centres on Cerebral Blood Flow (CBF), or blood flow to the brain. It suggests that when a human being stands or sits, gravity pulls blood away from the brain, reducing CBF by up to 17% in upright posture.

Humans can counter the effect of Gravity Ageing by maintaining CBF through inversions, that is head should be below the heart. Continue Research’s hypothesis suggests that instead of active inversion methods, like yoga, passive inversion is more effective in improving blood flow to the brain.

Notably, Goyal announced a $25 Mn seed fund last month for Continue Research, which was incubated last year as the Eternal cofounder’s personal health and wellness venture.
