Five year into existence Careers360, a Delhi-based counselling platform has received Rs 6 Cr in angel funding from a group of investors, including Billionaire Ranjan Pai, MD and CEO of Manipal Education and Medical Group and education firm Career Launcher founder Satya Narayanan R., Seedfund’s Mahesh Murthy and two financial investors also participated in the round.
Founded by Maheshwer Peri and Rajesh Jain, Careers360 is a student community and career counselling platform, which aims to help students take informed decisions. It offers career advices and information on education, jobs and professional options to the youth aged between 17 and 25. Careers360 claims its portal had monthly page views of more than 8 Mn by May 2014. In addition to an online platform, it also has presence in print, web, mobile and TV.
Startup aims to create Amazon for education services and will be using the new round of funding to launch the education marketplace called Mycareers360. Further it will be investing in hiring talent and scale up technology.

“We are not a media play but an education play. The fund that we have raised will help us create an education marketplace, connecting students with right career-oriented courses,” Careers360 founder Maheshwer Peri said.
The education market in India will be worth Rs.5.9 trillion in 2014-15 as against Rs.3.33 trillion in the 2011-12 fiscal year, according to India Ratings and Research Pvt. Ltd, a part of the Fitch Group.
