Battlegrounds Mobile India has clocked 50 Mn downloads on Google Play. This comes little over a month after the game’s launch on July 2, 2021.

The company stated that to celebrate the milestone, players have been given the Galaxy Messenger Set permanent outfit in addition to some more rewards. Additionally, on Independence Day, Krafton ran the fun event Freedon Face-Off, a casual set of matches on its social channels involving partners who played against each other with Team Encore eventually emerging the winners.

One of the game’s features, The Royal Pass Month 2 launched for the second month last week with the theme “Project T” introducing all new outfits and rewards. The max RPM rank will remain at 50 while adding in a higher number of rewards for each tier, and challenge missions to only last for a month.

Krafton had opened up pre-registration for the game on May 18, 2021 and just within a month’s time, it had gained over 20 Mn subscribers. The game relaunched in the Indian market under the new name and claimed to have changed its data storage mechanism to come back, after PUBG Mobile was banned along with nearly 200 other apps due to the government’s concerns about data security.  The original PUBG mobile title was banned in India in September 2020, on allegations  of  engaging in activities that were prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, and other data privacy concerns. This is the mobile game’s first official release in India after that stint.

Additionally, in June, the game was found to be sending users data to servers in China, according to a report on IGN India . It also included the user’s device data that was sent to Tencent-run Proxima Beta in Hong Kong, as well as Microsoft Azure servers located in the US, Mumbai, and Moscow.

While PUBG Mobile has been banned in India, the console and PC versions of PUBG remain unaffected. PUBG Mobile had over 175 Mn downloads and around 50 Mn monthly active users in India, as per reports, before its ban. Other games such as Call of Duty mobile and Garena Free Fire saw their user base grow in the wake of the PUBG mobile ban.

So far, the game is not available for iOS devices. However, as per the report, Krafton will be making announcements on the iOS version of the game very soon on Battlegrounds Mobile India social media channels.
