In an effort to empower aspiring angel investors with the essential knowledge of startup investing, Inc42 has collaborated with iStart Rajasthan and DOIT&C to present the second edition of its angel investing workshop — Angel Rajasthan.

The invite-only workshop is scheduled to take place in Jaipur on February 22 and will bring together High Net Worth Individuals (HNIs), founders, and angel investors, with the goal of fostering collaboration within the vibrant investor ecosystem of the state.

The second edition, slated to be larger than the first one, will bring together over 150 HNIs, business owners, entrepreneurs, members of the VC community in India, and founders from seed-stage and above startups from the Indian startup ecosystem to delve into all aspects of startup investing.

The inaugural edition, held in September last year, featured industry veterans such as Anil Joshi of Unicorn India Ventures, former Managing Partner at Orios Anup Jain, Aditya Singh of All In Capital, Ashis Nayak of Veda VC, Dhruv Kapoor of Anicut Capital, and Shashank Randev of 100X.VC as speakers, who shared their experience and learnings with 100+ attendees and helped them in gaining exposure to the world of startup investing.

Building on the first edition’s success, our goal is to provide an even more comprehensive and impactful experience for the participants. This workshop not only acts as a networking platform for connecting with peers who share similar interests but also provides a wide range of funding perspectives from seasoned industry experts.

The attendees will gain insights from experienced investors, understand the emerging trends, know the best practices, and develop strategies to manage risks effectively, ultimately nailing startup investing.

The workshop will also host a startup showcase wherein startups from the state will have the chance to pitch their ideas to the audience, showcase their innovative solutions, and gain exposure.

The workshop will help upcoming startup investors gain insights and navigate the intricacies of startup investing.

During the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in interactive sessions with experienced speakers. These sessions aim to provide participants with a deep understanding of various aspects of startup investment, including investment thesis (sectors, ticket size), identifying exceptional founders, and establishing accurate valuations for a seamless exit strategy.

Post workshop, Inc42 will also hold a networking evening which would provide attendees an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, explore collaborations and discover promising startups for potential investments.

Fueling The Next Wave Of Startups In Rajasthan

In the evolving landscape of Indian startups, attention is shifting from traditional tech hubs like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru to other emerging hubs. Rajasthan, one of the emerging startup hubs, recently earned recognition as the ‘top-performing state’ in the ‘State Startup Ranking’ by DPIIT. It joined states like Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, and Punjab in Category A, which includes states with a population exceeding 1 Cr.

It has also emerged as a key startup funding hub beyond the top three. According to Inc42’s ‘Indian Tech Startup Funding Report 2023’, Jaipur ranked fifth among emerging startup hubs with a funding of $1.2 Bn across 92 deals between 2014 and 2023. In addition, Marwari Catalyst, a Rajasthan-based VC firm also emerged as one of the top startup investors with 45 funding deals, the report stated.

Rajasthan’s startup ecosystem seems promising, with Jaipur housing more than half (53.3%) of all startups in the state. But the big question is, can the startups and investors in the city ready themselves to take on the metros?

Sushil Sharma, founder of Marwari Catalysts, aptly described the challenges faced by the state’s investors last time at the workshop, saying, “Rajasthan has a lot of HNIs with deep pockets. The only challenge for them is learning about the startup ecosystem.”

He emphasised how events like workshops and networking opportunities will help HNIs find the right connections and gain the right kind of knowledge.

Angel Rajasthan is Inc42’s attempt to empower the state’s startup ecosystem by providing the right skills and frameworks to build the next wave of startup investors. Join us on February 22, 2024, as we unite key stakeholders under one roof!
