The Fulfillment Center Aims To Increase Its Speed Of Delivery With Prime Day Sale Around The Corner

Amazon India has announced the launch of its third fulfillment centre in Kolkata, West Bengal, ahead of its upcoming Prime Day Sale in India starting from July 16.

Akhil Saxena, Vice President, Customer Fulfilment, Amazon India, said, “In line with our vision to transform the way India buys and sells, we have been consistently investing in our infrastructure and delivery network, so we can increase our speed of delivery and provide a superior experience to both – customers and sellers.”

What’s The Need For Fulfilment Centers In West Bengal?

As claimed by Amazon India, West Bengal is an important market for the company. Here are some points to highlight the same:

  •  Prime membership witnessed an increase in West Bengal with members joining from towns such as Siliguri, Alipurduar, Bankura, Birbhum.
  • Has a strong presence of its own delivery network with over 40 Service Partner nodes and over 400 ‘I Have Space’ store partners in West Bengal.

Amazon India will be leveraging its application – Prime Now in top four Indian cities to offer ultra-fast two-hour deliveries to customers across categories, including smartphones and consumer electronics.

Amazon has been focusing on strengthening its position in the Indian market as Walmart and Flipkart signed the world’s biggest ecommerce acquisition deal. The company will further focus on its private labels across categories, which will offer the maximum deals. Amazon India has also lowered its seller fees in categories such as furniture and luggage. It is also looking to increase the number of its warehouses and fulfillment centres across the country with products so that most orders can be delivered the next day.
