Opening the global market for Indian vendors, Amazon India has now launched its B2B selling programme allowing Indian sellers and exporters to sell their products and services abroad as well.

Taking 2000 sellers on board, the ecommerce behemoth had launched its B2B selling programme as part of its pilot project on September 27, 2017. However, the opportunity will now be open to all the existing 300K Indian sellers.

Commenting on the development, Peeyush Nahar, Vice president of B2B marketplace for Amazon stated, “Amazon’s global selling programme will get sellers in front of decision makers of Fortune 500 companies as well as medium and small corporations across the world.”

As part of the B2B selling programme, Amazon India will make five markets — the US, UK, Germany, France and Japan — available to Indian sellers and exporters.

Amazon also claims to provide pricing customisation tools, lower fees on large business transactions in core B2B categories, display company profile and display quality and diversity certifications exclusively for the exporters under B2B selling programme.

Amazon had enabled its global marketplace for Indian customers in 2015. The very same year, Amazon had launched its Amazon Business programme in the US. The Amazon Business is present in five other countries globally, including Germany, the UK and Japan.

While this will be a paid registration for the exporters seeking access to the global marketplace, Amazon Business India will also offer free shipping subject to eligible purchases to a business customer that registers for the service with reliable delivery timelines. Apart from these features, it will also provide analytical insights to the consumers

While Alibaba has been a leader in the global B2B marketplace, another Indian ecommerce marketplace Flipkart, having bought ebay India last year, is also apparently working to bridge local and global market demand and supply.
