During Oct-Nov, Delhi battles against acute air pollution due to cracker bursting and crop burning in neighboring states. In certain areas of Delhi, the Air Quality Index (AQI) peeked at 999 crossing the ‘severe’ stage.
The 2019 Odd-Even scheme comes under the Delhi govt’s 7-point action plan tackling poor air quality. The odd-even scheme allows odd-numbered vehicles to run on odd dates and even-numbered vehicles on even dates.
This year, the Delhi government will be implementing it for 11 days, starting from November 4 to November 15. This is done to tackle air pollution and traffic congestion in the national capital.
