Everything you do in life starts with a wish. A new wish, is a new reason to live your life

We do see wishlists on ecommerce stores where one can save products he wishes to get in future. A Mumbai based startup, Wishberg has taken this concept to a next level. The Startup has taken up the role of genie’s assistant, helping people to keep a track of their wishes, and if possible, assist them in making their wishes come true.

We often wish something or the other, but not all the wishes come true, but we can’t just stop wishing for things to do or stuff to own. But, unfortunately there was no place to list down all your wishes. The startup understands these pain points and thus acts like a shopping cart of life or to-do list for life.

Wishberg allows users to build wishlists, share experiences, and discover relevant reviews and experiences from their social circle. It is like a social network where people can share their wishes and maybe inspire others to pursue them too. It connects people and their bucket lists from around the world, convincing people to pursue dreams. Also, when the wishes are materialistic, Wishberg helps them connect to suppliers who can make them happen.

Target Audience – It’s for everyone who Wish!

It’s for travellers who want to travel all the seven continents. It’s for the people who want to inspire and be inspired. It’s for people who are passionate about life. It could be anyone who has access to the internet and the willingness to dream.

Things that make it stand out

The USP of this network is that it encourages people to think long term and do something productive in their life. It tells them to find a purpose, and live life to the fullest. This makes them different from Facebook and bucketlist.org.

The startup has features like The Future Timeline which allows users to set target dates to complete the wishes, Secret Wishes – adding wishes anonymously, Trending Wishes which let users discover interesting wishes shared by others.

It had launched Shop Mobs last year, where people with the same wishes could plan a meetup and discuss their further plan of action to fulfil the wish. This will also help people negotiate prices with sellers since they would be buying in bulk.

It also has a feature called Wish Links, which allows people to complete their wishes through most relevant deals and partners who want to reach them. For this, it had opted a crowd-sourced model, letting anyone with knowledge of most relevant ways / deals to fulfill the wishes to share the same.  These Wish Links can be submitted by Users or even Marketers who want to reach specific users who have wished for it.

Funding

Wishberg had raised $150,000 in seed funding from India Quotient, an early stage venture capital firm started by former Seedfund executive director Anand Lunia last year. Angel investors like One97 founder and managing director Vijay Shekhar Sharma and HeadHonchos CEO Uday Sodhi also participated in the round.

Is finding people with a Wish a challenge?

It might act like a challenge bringing people to post their wishes publically and also visiting their network regularly for finding/noting a wish may seem difficult to people. The idea may be novel looking at the sheer number of networks and sites such as Pinterest. But, adding another name to the long list of frequently visited social networks is not going to be easy. But then, who said being an entrepreneur was easy.

Summing up, the idea of a bucket list sharing website is very novel and could be the next big thing in terms of capturing the internet. But the brand needs to be careful and should not hurry in monetizing or trying to get revenues. They should be careful about what they ‘wish’ for !

Wishberg was founded by Pravin Jadhav (was Product Head (Ecommerce & Mobile) at Rediff.com India Limited) who is also the current CEO and Kulin Shah (ex-Senior Investment Manager at Reliance Venture Asset Management, venture capital arm of Reliance ADAG) who is the COO. It was started as a social discovery site named Tyche’d in 2011, and was rebranded to Wishberg in July 2012.
