Stay Ahead With Daily News & Analysis on India’s Tech & Startup Economy
Job search, the tinder way. The newly launched job seeking app, known by the name of Super, follows the tinder approach to help job seekers and companies connect. Owing to a fresh approach in job seeking, the startup connects people not only to the job, but also to the company culture, their vision and what it actually feels like to be there. And as none of the traditional job seeking platforms are mobile first which is Super’s basic approach as India currently has 250 million mobile users and another 300 million will be added over the next 6 months, hence accessibility has been simplified.
This app makes job search as simple as a swipe. The user needs to swipe to connect to the company and similarly, a worthy candidate can be “swiped” to selection. With a tap of their phone, job seeking candidates can look for better opportunities without the need to fill up forms, unless they have connected with their perfect job role.
The Super Story
According to Faisal Memon, founder of the app, “We wanted to make job search very simple, hence the tinder approach. Think of it, users can use the app anywhere and simply swipe to get connected to companies. So can the companies.” Memon has worked on several mobile apps and focuses on solving real world problems. The idea behind super developed after observing the current job seeking process in the country. Several online portals provide job opportunities and connect the companies to the seekers, but, what really happens is that it connects them to the job which is unlike their aspiration to connect with the company and its culture. You are not required to process anything if the company does not match upto your expectations in any form. A swipe, as they say, is all you need to land yourself one inch closer to getting the dream job.
The Numbers Game
With half a million registered users, Super has been rated over 8500 times and has about 100,000 views every day. Currently they are partnered with 100+ companies. All of this is a part of their closed beta which includes JustUnfollow, Webengage, Wingify, Helpshift, Flatchat, Zepo, Haptik and Grabhouse. The app aims to reach 10,000 companies in the next three months. The Job market is a $100 billion industry and considering the mobile first approach, Super has a very large base to serve to. The team has experimented with growth hacks, both within the app and outside, hence, they can proudly claim to have not spent even a single penny on their marketing strategy.
How does it work?
The idea behind the app is very simple and aims to connect job seekers to the employers. Both, the users and the companies, create profiles when they login to the app. A simple swipe to the right is what it takes for the parties to be connected. If an employer has swiped right on a candidate and the candidate has swiped right on the employer, both of them are connected via email. The app has an inbuilt resume builder which makes it easy to update and maintain all the details at one place without the need to upload files again and again. Apart from this, the app allows the user to get an insight into the offices and the company culture which helps them apply to their dream jobs at places which have current openings.
Upcoming advancements we might see
Simplification is the mantra for the Super team and maintaining a simple interface is what the team has been trying to achieve, but as they say, Simplicity is the most difficult thing to secure in this world. Apart from the user interface, a chat platform is being introduced which will allow users to chat to the employers before an actual meeting. Memon is excited about the possibilities in the near future, but for now, he is focused on transforming the way people look for jobs.
Our Take
Job seeking process is a very tiring process and any initiative to simplify it must be applauded. Super, following the tinder approaches, is trying to ease the job seeking process and is targeting the mobile platform which is a good move, considering smartphones are the new personal computers. But, since there is a very vast area to be covered, Super has a long way to go and needs to stay focused to serve the right purpose.
[To access the job section in the app which is only for job seekers, an invitational code is required. But lucky for our readers, here is the code which will allow first 500 readers to access the private beta version. SUPER-INC42]
