Stay Ahead With Daily News & Analysis on India’s Tech & Startup Economy
Budding entrepreneurs, as startup founders and managers, face many challenges through the course of their journey – ranging from choosing the right idea, building and scaling products to money management and payroll. One among these many concerns comes from the abstruse legal aspect. Legal issues might spring up from within the business or with external source ranging from trademarks copyrights to partnering issues and immigration options.
In a similar effort to overcome the legal hurdles faced by his previous startup Zeat, Akshat Singhal got the idea to bring Get Legal into action.
Get Legal allows startups and businesses to enquire about any legal issue they might face and is also extended to personal law related queries. One can get quick, useful and reliable advice in the form of answers and only from vetted lawyers and law students.
It is a workable and versatile platform that serves normal users, lawyers and law students. Its services include:
- A Q&A Platform
- Legal Blogs
- Lawyer Directories
- Legal Resources
- “User-Lawyer-Law Student” Community
The startup brings everyone under one single roof, providing efficacy to the entire procedure of getting you legally sorted. A legal dictionary and other legal resources are also available for users on Get Legal. Adding on, the website also provides an online platform where legal doubts can be discussed so that users can hammer out a solution for their legal problems. Moreover, it helps the normal users to find a suitable lawyer from the directory available which makes it possible to connect instantly with or hire leading lawyers and legal consultants.
The perks of the community do not limit only to users but to law students and lawyers giving them exposure and increased business respectively. It helps lawyers to connect with prospective clients and get noticed by their legal contemporaries for their work online strengthening their stature in the current market. The platform is completely free for everyone as of now, but in the near future, lawyers shall be given an option to avail special benefits for a small subscription fee.
Law students can share their apprehensions and learn from others and get noticed in the legal arena even before actually stepping into it.
Get Legal is currently a team of 6 and was co-founded by Akshat Sighal and Ashish Yadav, two undergrad final year student from BITS Pilani. Ashish is also their CTO and handles the entire technology the platform runs on.
“Working in a startup ecosystem fascinates me to its core. Product development and financial and business modeling for startups are a couple of things I like working on. Get Legal is our solution to the setbacks I faced from the legal side with Zeat, my first startup,” said Akshat.
The startup is still in BETA; with plans to expand further and help users find a suitable lawyer or consultant with customized filters.
“We are coming up with many value added features that would strengthen the position of a lawyer in the market and help businesses and entrepreneurs to widen their options as far as legal consultancy in India is concerned,” added Akshat.
With not more than a handful of ventures in India working in the legal space, Get Legal has an immense market size with millions of small ventures and SMEs in the country which might need legal advisory. Some of the other legal advisory firms working in this field include Vakil Search, Legally India and Sand Legal.
PS: Get Legal was one of the 13 teams launched at our event, StartupDash earlier in June this year.
