Ecommerce websites have created quite a buzz. Be it steep discounts cutting their own margin,or be it providing freebies with products. They have turned into a nightmare for brick and mortar stores. Somehow, it turns out that customers have experienced their own share of horror due to ecommerce websites. There were recent instances of Snapdeal and Flipkart delivering empty boxes and even stones to customers. A survey by mysmartprice shows that 54% of people are denied warranty on online products.
Key Takeaways:
- Among the people who claim warranty on products bought online, 54% are denied warranty at least once.
- Only 1.54% of all people who buy online have the need to claim warranty.
- The process of claiming warranty for a product online is usually completed within a week or two. However, for over 55% of claims the process takes more than a month to complete.
- Some of the popular reasons for warranty being denied are the lack of a bill from retailer or a stamp of the retailer on the warranty book, or in some cases because the product is over a year old .In the case of old products it may be because products are considered “sold” to the merchants who sell them on the marketplace.
Following infographic reveals that claiming warranty is easier in metro cities whereas it is impossible to claim in rural areas. Reasons for denying warranty are completely nonsensical and are made up.
