As an entrepreneur, it pains to me to see how many startups struggle to acquire or engage users. It is definitely one of the hardest part of running an app or any startup.

After Letsintern got acquired in 2015, I moved to the bay area. I wanted to spend my time helping other entrepreneurs and today no one is hurting more than the app developers; they are lost in the sea of 2 Million+ apps with 50,000 new ones launching every month.

I spent my summer with a company called Branch that is dedicated to building products that help app developers solve their growth problems. Their co-founder Mada was a good friend and we both quickly agreed it was imperative to pull together a resource to help app developers and marketers.

An example of the acquisition tech stack from the Ebook.

We went through the entire growth funnel, and studied 37 different channels with related tools and metrics across Acquisition, Activation, Retention and Referrals. We even made a growth modeling excel template (included in the ebook for download) to help start-ups model their retention rate, cohorts and k-factor for predictive growth modeling.

As entrepreneurs, Mada and I had personally experienced many of these problems while growing our previous startups and didn’t want app developers to lose out due to not having the tools and knowledge available to top apps today.

We were fortunate to have access to the top apps in Silicon Valley. Branch had already hosted 100’s of Growth Meet-Ups, had access to the growth managers/engineers from the best apps. We pooled in all our learnings to prepare the most rigorous and comprehensive content source for mobile developers and marketers in 2016.

The result, The 2016 Mobile Growth Playbook, capturing our learnings from the top growth leaders of apps like Pinterest, Flipboard, Buzzfeed, Yelp, Box, SoundCloud, Zynga, Grindr etc.

We researched and added a ton of powerful resources in this handbook, including a list of must read blogs.

The handbook is comprised of:

  • 45 tips, real-life hacks, and best practices from top mobile growth experts
  • 16 must-read blogs and Quora discussions on mobile growth
  • A complete breakdown of the 2016 Mobile Growth Tech stack with metrics and tools – from which toold to use from what problem to a description of how to calculate growth and measure virality
  • Statistics on the mobile industry, including average retention rates
  • A Growth Modeling Spreadsheet allowing you to plan your own experiments

The 2016 Mobile Growth Playbook shares tips from over 40 of the leading mobile marketers and developers that are a part of our global Mobile Growth Community started by Branch.
