Inc42 Daily Brief
Stay Ahead With Daily News & Analysis on India’s Tech & Startup Economy
He was born to a Dentist father and a psychiatrist mother in 1984 and was brought up in a county town near New York. He was keenly interested in computer programming and although he secured admission at Harvard, but he dropped out midway just to realise his dream of making an international platform that people could use to connect with each other, without worrying about borders, mountains or the oceans.
Very few people know that he learnt Mandarin just to impress his girlfriend’s parents’ ( now his In-laws). And, if you have even faintly heard of the term social media, you must have heard about his brainchild and chances are quite high that you might have also used it.
Yes, we are talking about Mark Zuckerberg, the second youngest self made billionaire, the CEO who at a very young age earned a lot of awards. After successfully running facebook for over 10 years now, Mark, through his new idea Internet.org, is now working towards increasing the spread of Internet to every household of the world.
Though he has achieved success at a very early age compared to many other tech wizards, but still, there are many lessons that can be learnt from his journey to where he is today.
Here are a few quotes from Mark Zuckerberg:
The biggest risk is not taking any risk… In a world that changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks.
Move fast and break things. Unless you are breaking stuff, you are not moving fast enough.
By giving people the power to share, we’re making the world more transparent.
Our goal is not to build a platform; it’s to be cross all of them.
To all of my friends who have younger siblings who are going to college or high school – my number one piece of advice is: You should learn how to program.
I think a simple rule of business is, if you do the things that are easier first, then you can actually make a lot of progress.
The question isn’t, ‘What do we want to know about people?’, It’s, ‘What do people want to tell about themselves?’
If you just work on stuff that you like and you are passionate about, you don’t have to have a master plan with how things will play out.
I’m here to build something for the long-term, anything else is a distraction.
Successful People always have 2 things on their lips : Silence And Smile
