People Invest In People

It is absolutely fine to want something more concrete from the investors if you are a startup.

While many of you may disagree to this fact that “money” seems the only thing that you may want from an investor.

An awesome serial entrepreneur and an amazing Startup Specialist Robert Bosco asked this amazing question in Startup Specialist Group on LinkedIn:

” How Important Is That An Investor Brings Other Things On The Table Beyond Money

I think that’s a fantastic question for someone to think and understand specially if you are a startup who has a fantastic product or someone who has already secured some fund and needs to accelerate his or her business. While in my previous series of articles I did address this question on a macro level

“When Do You Say No To An Investor”

I think Robert Bosco‘s discussion throws some great light on this question. Personally I feel an investor should bring in acceleration in growth and network handshakes for the startup in the target community for the startup. It is extremely desirable after the money commitment.

Some of the top 5 things that an investor could bring on the table for a startup could be:

  1. Trust
  2. Vision of Growth
  3. Expertise In Domain
  4. Network Acceleration & Handshake For Sales AKA Sales 🙂
  5. Fuel Innovation In The Startup

What do you think the other parameters could be ?
