Chinese accelerator and venture fund ZDream Ventures has acquired intelligence platform Xeler8 that provides a startups database for venture capital and private equity firms.
The terms of the deal are undisclosed. With this move, the Xeler8 team of about a dozen people, will be absorbed into ZDream Ventures.
Commenting on the acquisition, Jason Wang, founder and CEO of ZDream Ventures said, “We have plans of launching a tech media platform that will be backed by the Xeler8 database and the data will be open to all, in order to fuel up the Indian startup ecosystem.”
Founded in 2015, by Keshu Dubey and Rishabh Lawania, Xeler8 offers a database of Indian startups, covering about 47 industries. The data is singularly curated information on their business models, funding, founder details and more.
Xeler8 deploys machine learning techniques for its information, which is later validated by its team of analysts. It also has an investor database that covers all investor details investing in the Indian startup ecosystem.
The startup tracker also acts as a lead generation platform for corporates and a market research tool.
ZDream Ventures is a fund and accelerator based in Gurugram. It was founded in 2015 by two industry veterans from China, whose focal point has been the Indian market for the past 10 years. Its investments are focussed on technology, media, and telecommunications. Prior to this, ZDream has invested in subscription-based egrocery startup Milkbasket and iamwire – a digital media platform.
