Yuvraj Singh’s investment company, YouWeCan Ventures has become a limited partner in a film and media-focused venture capital fund, Media Fund. The partnership is followed by an undisclosed amount of investment in Media fund making YouWeCan as one of the key investors in the fund.
INR 100Cr Media Fund is a diversified, investment advisory and private equity group, of which DAR Media(producer of ‘The Lunchbox’) is a wholly-owned subsidiary. It has already received commitments of less than $1 Mn (INR 60 Cr), and will co-invest in projects in which Yuvraj Singh will come on board as a director of the asset management firm.
Arun Rangachari, Chairman, DAR Capital Group, said, “The Media Fund will not have an exposure to more than 25% of the total project cost. The funds will be invested in 11 projects in its first round for which we have already identified the projects. As for Yuvraj Singh, he will come on board as a director of the asset management firm.”
This is the company’s first investment in a fund, leaving behind the old strategy of investing directly into ventures.
Till date, YouWeCan Ventures has announced four investments in startups, including Delhi-based on-demand logistics booking platform Moovo, Gurgaon-based online healthcare marketplace Healthians, education services marketplace EduKart and mobile based beauty and wellness platform Vyomo.
