New Delhi-based website performance testing startup, Wingify, has announced the launch of notCRUD, a first ever community platform to showcase the best of Indian product, technology and design thinking.

notCRUD is a discussion platform for people who’re interested in building great software products in India. Its an online forum where enthusiasts can discuss, discover and evangelise software products, especially those built on the open source platform. In a manner, notCRUD aims to be ProductHunt for India.

notCRUD accumulates exciting tech products, design initiatives as well as interesting discussions/ write-ups on product management, growth, hiring, scaling technology and building stellar user experiences – all created by people in India. It will also start series of offline event and organize talks and hackathons to work on interesting product problems.

CRUD in software lingo is an acronym used to create, read, update and delete. It is the basic function of a computer database, which facilitates viewing, searching and changing information.  However, notCRUD aims to be the opposite. It stresses that software products made in India are not basic.

The initiative aims to showcase the best of Indian product talent to build amazing products out of India.

Paras Chopra, founder and CEO of Wingify believes that being a talent pool of billion people, there’s no reason why global products cannot emerge from India. While there are enough communities and platforms that talk about startups, valuations and fundraising, there is very little discussion happening on nuts-and-bolts of building amazing products out of India.

Building great products is hard work, it requires achieving multiple things at one go, like innovative engineering, acute market knowledge, intuitive design and above all, gumption to challenge the established.

Paras said,

“We need more people thinking and talking about robotics, artificial intelligence, cryptography, database design, design patterns and product management practices. We at Wingify decided to build notCRUD to highlight and nurture the product talent that exists in India and to support great product ideas from the country. We are happy that some of the top product leaders in the country have come together to be a part of the community. Their presence and encouragement will ensure that more and more product evangelists join notCRUD.”

He added that what they do is complimentary to what software product thinktank, iSpirt does.

notCRUD boasts of participation from product managers, web and mobile engineers, UI/UX designers, growth experts, hardware hackers and more. Leaders like Santosh Panda of Explara, Harish Sivaramakrishnan of Front End Engineering and UX at FreeCharge and Avinash Raghava of Fellow at iSPIRT Foundation are some of the well-known names that are already a part of the community.

NotCRUD also aims to start podcasts, bring in structures to hackathons, so codes and products built during the event get used or improved by the larger community. The community garners about 60 visits an hour soon after a post is published.

Started in 2009 by Paras Chopra, Wingify is among India’s fastest growing SaaS companies whose flagship product, Visual Website Optimizer (VWO), is one of the world’s leading website testing platforms used by more than 4000 brands across more than 90 countries to analyze web activity and increase conversions.

Companies like Microsoft, General Electric, Rackspace, Cleartrip and BharatMatrimony use VWO to understand how website visitors engage with their digital properties as it offers marketers a highly effective A/B testing, multivariate testing, behavioral targeting, usability and heat map testing solution that requires no coding knowledge.
