Gurgaon-based WedmeGood.com, a wedding portal that helps soon-to-be couples chalk out their wedding from planning to execution has raised a funding of $406K (INR 2.7 crores) from Indian Angel Network (IAN).
Founded in February, 2014, by husband and wife duo Anand and Mehak Shahani, the company aims at making the planning of a modern Indian wedding hassle-free.
Wedmegood is a comprehensive wedding resource which not only helps its customers choose the right vendor but also provides them with great inspiration, concepts and a handful of valuable wedding advice. “Right from the idea to the execution stage, there is something to be discovered for everyone. We strongly believe that this portal is a labour of love to ensure every couple to have their dream wedding a hassle free affair.” said Mehak Shahani, Co-founder at Wedmegood.com.
With the help of its pre-screened and curated vendor lists which help couples find the best wedding professionals – photographers, makeup artists, décor, jewelry brands, designer wear and catering firms – all in one place, users can find and shortlist the right vendors for their wedding while browsing through the extensive profiles. The platform also informs them about the latest trends and other real weddings to draw inspiration from.
The wedding industry has become a very competitive market in India. It is a huge market and there is a considerable gap in what kind of wedding people would like to have against what they are receiving. In January this year, ShaadiSaga, a startup tackling the $40 Bn market raised undisclosed amount from by Outbox Ventures. Other startups like Myshaadi.in and BigIndianWedding.com are also proving to be tough competition.
With a vision to become the one stop shop from Indian weddings, WedmeGood has a long way ahead to deliver the perfect hassle-free weddings.
