Gurgaon-based mobile services marketplace, UrbanClap, has acquired after sales services platform HandyHome, according to TOI. According to our sources, the deal is currently undergoing legal processing.
We have reached out to both the companies, however, they were unavailable for the comments. This comes at a time when UrbanClap has launched its services in Hyderabad and is looking forward to expand to new cities.
Mumbai-based HandyHome was founded in January 2015 by Aditya Gupta, Akash Goel, Bonish Gandhi, Harmin Shah, Kartikeya Datt and Manthan Shah. It allows users to book brand-authorised repairs and other services for electronic appliances online. It has over 40 brands of home appliances on its platform.
Prior to this, in July 2015, HandyHome raised seed funding from early stage Silicon Valley-based Bessemer Ventures and Mumbai-based Kae Capital.
On the other side, UrbanClap was founded by Varun Khaitan, Raghav Chandra and Abhiraj Bhal in October 2014. It provides a marketplace for standardised blue collared services like electricians or home cleaning and white collared services like photographers, interior designers, yoga instructors, etc. It is currently operational in Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune & Hyderabad, and has over 80 categories of services listed on its platform.
Ratan Tata invested an undisclosed amount in UrbanClap in December 2015. It also raised $25 Mn in a Series B round of funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners and existing investors Accel and SAIF Partners in November 2015.
