Online cab hailing platform Uber, in partnership with T-Hub and TiE Silicon Valley, has launched T-Bridge. T-Bridge is a programme that will connect Indian startups with global market opportunities, and help bring global startups to India.
This programme will enable startup communities in India and around the world to cross-pollinate ideas, innovate, and create channels for knowledge transfer. It will also create a network of mentors, VCs, incubators and accelerators that the Indian startup ecosystem can take advantage of.
Shri K T Rama Rao, Telangana Cabinet Minister for IT E&C, MAUD, Industries & Commerce inaugurated T-Bridge in association with Uber and TiE Silicon Valley at Uber’s headquarters in San Francisco.
He said, “T–Bridge is one such move towards opening a channel of investment from the world to the state of Telangana. I am proud to open our first outpost in US in association with Uber and TiE Silicon Valley and believe that this association will forge new partnerships and spur investment and innovation between the two countries”.
T-Bridge will provide a platform for fast-track tech companies looking to tap into India’s consumer market for technology.It will help startups access UberEXCHANGE, Uber’s flagship startup mentorship programme and TiE’s Silicon Valley’s mentor network.
As part of UberEXCHANGE, global leaders at Uber have already conducted fiveseparate mentorship sessions with select Indian startups across different categories over the year. The sessions will culminate in a grand finale with Uber shortlisting 10 startup finalists who will be flown to San Francisco to meet Uber’s senior leadership and be introduced to potential investors.
Earlier this week reports surfaced that Uber is reportedly planning to launch a new service named Uber Everything. It will be a ride-hailing service for buses and mini-vans. Earlier this month, Uber announced that India is number two (after the US) in the number of rides taken.
