Staying true to its ‘Tap a button, get a ride’ principle, Uber has announced a new feature for third party developers – the ‘Ride Request’ button, for free.

By adding the button next to every address or ‘intent to ride’ in the app, users can now tap to instantly get a ride to a hotel, restaurant, movie theater or any other destination of their choice.

Developers need to go through a three-step process to install the Uber Ride Request button on their apps:

  1. Register the app on the Uber Developer Dashboard.
  2. Install the new Uber iOS and Android rides SDK.
  3. Configure and display the ‘Ride Request’ button next to every address or ‘intent to ride’ in their app. Developers can optimise this feature by providing specific details about the trip (ex. – pickup location, destination, product etc.)

Upon installing, users will be deep-linked into the Uber app with their ride pre-configured allowing them to move quickly.

The announcement comes just one day after Uber launched its uberASSIST service in India, a specialised service for disabled and elderly passengers.
