Uber Driver Shot Dead By Two Teens In Delhi

An Uber driver was recently shot dead by two teen passengers. The incident took place in New Delhi. Delhi Police and Uber have confirmed the development.

According to reports, the driver had an argument with the teens when they began their journey on Wednesday at 4:00 PM, to go to Hiran Kudna in West Delhi. As per police, the murder took place at 6 PM on an isolated road in Najafgarh in South-West Delhi.

The driver, identified as Kuldeep, age 51, was shot in head and chest.

In an emailed response to Inc42, Gagan Bhatia, General Manager, Uber-North, said, “Our thoughts are with the family of our driver-partner, the victim of this mindless violence. We have pro-actively shared details with the police to assist them with their investigation.”

The accused have been identified and are being questioned by the police.

This is not the first time that Uber has got into this kind of trouble. In 2014, Uber made huge headlines when an Uber driver was accused for raping a women in Delhi. Later Uber’s services was also suspended in the city. Uber has also taken a number of initiatives to ensure security of the passengers.

While a lot has been debated /talked about passengers safety, with cases like these, ensuring driver safety will be another subject of concern for these cab haling apps.
