Five months after getting acquired by Ola, TaxiForSure has announced that they are now migrating to Ola.

The company in its blogpost said that they are pulling out of from 22 Indian cities, and transferring control to Ola. These 22 cities include- Ambala, Bhavnagar, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Hubli-Dharwad, Jabalpur, Jamnagar, Jamshedpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Sholapur, Tiruchirappalli, Trivandrum, Ujjain, Varanasi, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

You can check the complete list here.

Few queries, answered by TaxiForSure:

  • Everything remains the same, just the App changes.
  • If you’ve added money to your TFS Credits, it will be transferred back to your Bank account.
  • If you have promotional TFS Credits in your account, you’ll find the same amount in your Ola Money.
  • However, your Paytm wallet remains untouched.

TaxiForSure will continue to operate in metros including- New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and others.

The prices have also been lowered by the company in comparison to Uber. Currently, rides in Hyderabad is for INR 6/km; Pune & Delhi for INR 7/kms and INR 8/km for Mumbai. Hence, as for now, Ola will be taking over in Tier II and Tier III cities.

Editor’s Take

The intra-city transport business has taken a paradigm shift in the recent years, thanks to the disruptive services from cab hailing companies like Ola, Uber and TaxiForSure. As a matter of fact Bangalore itself seems to have around 25,000 cabs plying in the city and this has been a paradigm shift in livelihood for drivers, who are buying a car and running their own businesses.

This move doesn’t come as a surprise to us since we had been seeing the TFS services slowly deteriorating with cabs being cancelled out randomly. Entering Tier II cities was the last ditch effort by TFS before being acquired by Ola and we harbor a feeling that the burn rate was so high that it didn’t make any sense. We just hope that the disrupted services won’t weigh heavily on the drivers as they would have taken loan and invested big bucks for buying the cabs.
