Target Corporation launched its first accelerator programme in India in March 2014 and then launched the second in the same year in the month of June, to help further its transformation into an omnichannel retailer. Target India’s portfolio includes – muHive, Unbx, InstaClique, Konotor, Turnaround Innovision, Instaclique, Twiddly, Whodat’s Spaces, Wazzat, Torch, and Visarity.

Talking about the programme, Navneet Kapoor, MD and President, Target India said, “We have worked with a broad category of startups and are excited about the initial tests conducted with several of them. The vision of their ideas and the far-reaching impact it can have is helping Target stay ahead of the game. Through our accelerator journey over the last three years, we have seen the Indian startup ecosystem mature and are thrilled to see them address deeper and more relevant business problems. We remain invested in partnering with the startups to shape the future of retail.”

Target was founded in 1962, as a subsidiary of Minneapolis-based Dayton Department Stores and it was launched as a retailer in Bengaluru (India) during mid-2005. Target collaborates across borders in support of business initiatives.

Some of the startups that were a part of their earlier batches include Findmeashoe.com, BugClipper, Whodat spaces, and Twiddly.

In another development, Target India has also partnered with late-stage startups to provide business solutions to them.

Target is ready to launch its fifth batch of startups this year under its Accelerator Programme and the applications for the same can be submitted here.
