Hyderabad-based T-Hub Incubator To Launch Accelerator For Health-Tech Startups

Hyderabad state government backed startup incubator T-Hub will launch its first health-tech accelerator program in May. The incubator also plans to launch other accelerators focused on IoT, Agritech and B2B startups in the next one year.

The T-Hub Health Tech Innovation Accelerator will be set up in partnership with pharmaceutical company Merck and Microsoft Ventures.

The accelerator program will be for 3 months, as at a given point there would be just one accelerator at T-hub. Therefore, every quarter one accelerator would complete a program and then the next would begin working. The program currently has over 1,600 applications and will not be taking any more applications for now.

The participants will receive mentorship and will get an opportunity to connect with potential investors. The announcement was made at the ongoing 13th edition of biotechnology and life-sciences forum BioAsia.

Jay Krishnan, CEO of T-Hub said, “The health-tech accelerator will be the first one among four to open in April-May. Shortlisted companies in life sciences and health tech will have a structured program to meet product, market and revenue validation. Also, investors would put in money.”

T-Hub was launched in November 2015 by the government of Telangana and selected private companies. It has 70,000 square feet area and aims to facilitate seating capacity for 800 people and can house up to 150 startups. Out of this, 5-10% constitutes of life sciences and health companies.

T-Hub has tied-up with over 20 venture capitalists, also in talks for collaboration with University of Texas, Houston, MIT Media Lab, Incubio of Spain and laboratories, and academic institutions in India and abroad.

Prior to this, T-Hub partnered with NASSCOM 10,000 Startup Program and inaugurated the T-Hub NASSCOM Startup Warehouse in January 2016.
