SP Robotics Works Grabs Funding From IAN

Chennai-based startup, SP Robotics Works, which provides robotic education to school and college students, has raised $300K in a funding round by Indian Angel Network (IAN). Nagaraja Prakasam has led this round on behalf of IAN and will also join the board of company. This round has been co-led by The Chennai Angels (TCA).

Founded in August 2012 by two Anna University Electrical and Electronic Engineering student Pranavan Santhanakrishnan and Sneha Priya, SP Robotics is a skill development company focused on robotic based training to school and college students.

The startup offers two programs – Kidobotikz (for students from age 12-17) and Rovateclabs (for Hobbyists aged 18+). Besides, it also offers premier education in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Robotics and PCB Designing.

Kidobotikz plans to launch the digital version of its courseware in Chennai in few months time to inspire more students. “We want to change the phase of Indian education in par with the international standards by providing practical experiences to the school students,” said Sneha Priya, co-founder at SP Robotics.

Other provisions that SP Robotics ecosystem provides are internships, social real-time projects, industrial visits and graduation in their field of excellence at the end of the course.

The startup will use the raised capital primarily to set up more knowledge centres and start video tutorials on its portal.

SP Robotics is Prakasam’s 13th investment in IAN. He has also led deals in Uniphore, GoCoOp, Freshworld and Saahas.
