Sminq, a Pune based queue management app has raised $1 Mn in a Seed round of funding, led by Saama Capital and Blume Ventures. Angel investor Vaibhav Domkundwar of micro-venture firm Better Inc. also participated in the round.
With this funding, Suresh Shanmugham, managing director, Saama Capital will be joining the company board. The funds will be used in getting more services and improving technology offering.
“Sminq is chasing an important vision of delivering availability data like never before which will fundamentally change the way we consume local services”, said Vaibhav Domkundwar, an early backer and strategic investor.
Launched in July 2015 by TastyKhana founders Shachin Bharadwaj, Sheldon Dsouza and Santhosh N, Sminq stands for See Me In No Queue. The app allows users to avoid long queues without being physically present at the place.
It is currently working with clinics in Pune and has over 40 paying doctors on its platform. They currently charge doctors a fee to be listed on Sminq and drive 6000+ user bookings a month to their clients. The company plans to build a visibility search engine which will enable users to book appointments across various businesses.
“We have been in the market for close to a year now, and see a very good product market fit for Sminq. We are already generating revenues and have seen great traction when it comes to user engagement with the app,” said Shachin.
Queuelo and Qtix are few other players in this space.
