Room on Call Secures $2 Mn From CASHurDRIVE (CUD)

Room on Call, a branded budget accommodation marketplace, has raised $2 Mn led by ‘on-vehicle’ advertising company, Cash ur Drive (CUD).

Founded in 2015 by Pradeep Sajjan, Amit Goel and Nirupma Dhawan, Room on Call is a Gurgaon-based budget accommodation marketplace that lets seekers book room irrespective of late night landing of flight, or delayed trains, or last minute reservations. It allows business and leisure travellers to book a budget room online or through direct booking in the absence of Internet connection.

The startup has a strong presence in 42+ cities with the listing of more than 400 hotels. It presently has an inventory of 8000+ room nights every day and aims to start operating across 150 locations and 20,000 rooms in India by year-end.

It recently introduced its mobile app to enable customers to book their accommodation more conveniently.

Nirupma Dhawan, chief operating officer, Room on Call, said, “The fresh funding will be used for marketing and strengthening operation in metros along with expanding presence in tier 2 and 3 cities. We will add new members to the current team of 27 and scale up operations to make a pan-India presence. We aim to put together those non-star categories under one brand and then standardize properties to give an unforgettable hospitality to our customers.”

The startup has been advised by web-based deal-enabling platform Enablers for fundraising and implementing growth plans through raising capital.

Prior to this, the startup had raised raised $300K from U.S. based Payal Syal, senior executive at Yahoo.
