Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) has formed a corpus of $3 Mn (INR 20 Cr). The objective of the corpus is to encourage students to take up entrepreneurship and for funding startups.
To this end, the e-entrepreneurship cell of the university organised a two-day seminar last week. On the first day of the seminar, a series of lectures by founders of different startups were organised.
Addressing the gathering, Rohit Chadda, former MD and co-founder, Foodpanda India said, “The execution of an idea plays a major role in the success of any startup. Students must work on this aspect to make it work.”
Sharing his experience with students, writer Arpit Vegaria said, “Anyone could be a hero, but it requires honest efforts.” Sarvesh Agarwal, founder of Internshala, gave tips to the students on how to initiate a startup.
RGPV has also decided to invite entrepreneurs on October 1, 2016 to select ideas for startups from students.
Prof. Piyush Trivedi, Vice Chancellor, RGPV said, “Startups are an important part in the contemporary world for students. Merely banking on a campus placement is not enough. Startups can help students start new ventures. We have formed a corpus of $1.5 Mn (INR10 Cr) venture fund for startups and another $1.5 Mn (INR 10 Cr) for innovation. We are working on the concept of developing companies on the RGPV campus.”
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has also set up an incubation centre ‘Electropreneur Park’ at University of Delhi, South Campus. It plans to incubate 50 early stage startups and create at least 5 global companies over a period of five years.
This development was first reported in TOI.
