Palo Alto-based edtech startup Stoodnt has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Rajan Anandan, Vice-President, Google, Southeast Asia and India.

“The college admission market is highly fragmented, low-tech and fraught with fraud, biased advice and quality issues in international markets. The focus of our platform is to provide insights, online help and college admission expert guidance by leveraging data, technology and people. We are delighted to have someone like Rajan be associated with this opportunity to make a difference in the future of millions of aspiring students,” said co-founder Ajay Singh.

The startup will use the newly raised funding to enhance its user experience, product development and to expand the user-base. The platform leverages data, technology and people to provide a solution to make the college admission process easier.

Stoodnt was founded in 2016 by Harvard Business school alumni Ajay Singh, Yuri Punj and software entrepreneur Sena Palanisami. It is a global technology platform that connects users with US college counselors and colleges. So far, the company has raised seed investment from angel investors and senior executives with Fortune 500 companies in India and USA.

At present, the platform offers guidance for undergraduate, graduate, and MBA admissions to the US and Canada and intends on adding UK and Australia next.

It has just started operations in India, its first international market, and has appointed Ramdas Sunder as Managing Director India and South Asia.

Earlier in May 2016, Delhi-based another edtech startup iDreamCareer.com raised an undisclosed amount in funding in Pre-Series A funding from media house BCCL’s (Bennett, Coleman and Company Ltd) strategic investment arm Brand Capital.

Other startups in this segment include Collegedunia, Shiksha.com, Careers360, HT Campus, Pagalguy.com, among others.
