RailYatri has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in pre-series A round led by Helion Venture Partners along with Omidyar Network. Its existing investors Blume Ventures and Ujam also participated in this round of funding.

The funds raised will be used by the company to consolidate its product leadership in the domain while focusing at growth acceleration at the same time. As a part of deal, Rahul Chandra, Managing Partner at Helion will join the board of the company.

Noida-based Railyatri, owned and operated by Stelling Technologies which was set up in 2011, is a web and mobile-based tool that provides comprehensive information on train status, reservation status, seat availability, amenities, disruptions etc. With other services including taxi bookings and allowing customers to order food on the go. It has tie-ups with taxi services firms across 20 cities and food vendors across 300 stations. The company was founded by Manish Rathi, Kapil Raizada and Sachin Saxena and the mobile based app was launched in 2014.

The app furnishes users with information for over 9000 locations and 145o0 trains including local trains and metros. It claims that it has crossed 1Mn downloads, 70% of which use the app at least once a month. The company previously raised $486K from Blume Ventures.

Rahul Chandra added that RailYatri is the railway enquiry windows in a common man’s mobile with innovation at its core. A new feature of sharing live location has been added in the app and the company has aggressive growth target coupled with plans to raise further capital.
