Cloud Based Health Record Platform PurpleDocs Raises Funding From Lead Angels, Others

Vadodara-based healthcare records management startup, PurpleDocs has reportedly raised funding from KellyGamma, Lead Angels, and HNIs from the Indian healthcare sector. The amount of funding remains undisclosed.

The funding will be used for enhancing its technology and expansion of operations outside Gujarat to healthcare providers in the NCR area, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

Founded in 2010 by the husband-wife duo of Deepak Gupta and Pooja Gupta, PurpleDocs is a healthcare records management company with a cloud-based software solution. Users can access their records, scans, MRI, X-rays, and reports, from anywhere using intelligent data analysis and statistical reporting.

Talking about the investment, Deepak Gupta, founder and CEO, PurpleDocs said, “While the prevalence of healthcare records management as an integrated technology solution is still at a nascent stage in India, it is important to note that more than 10 Cr new patient records are generated in the country annually.”

The company claims to use the highest form of security encryption for maintaining the safety of its users’ medical records and information. The startup claims to have more than 60 hospitals as its customers across Gujarat.

According to an official statement, the startup has plans to add more services on its platform with the aid of advanced analytics and machine learning to help in efficient patient diagnosis. It also aims at capturing 6%-7% of the market share in the coming three years and is also planning to launch its mobile app.

The startup presently has four centres located in Gujarat – Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Rajkot.

In January 2015, cloud-enabled medical records platform eKincare secured $150K (INR 1 Cr) in angel round of funding from US-based healthcare firm Adroitent Pvt. Ltd. In March 2016, it raised $329K (INR 2.2 Cr) in a Pre-Series A round of funding from Bitkemy Ventures, Maheshwari Investment Pvt. Ltd, and other HNIs.

In August 2016, Bengaluru-based healthcare analytics company Tricog Health raised an undisclosed amount in Series A round of funding. The investment was led by Inventus Capital Partners, Blume Ventures and others.

Major competitors for PurpleDocs include other electronic medical record (EMR) companies such as Mediangels, ViDoc, RxVault etc.
