Pune-based Quinto, a personalized food recommendation app, has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from Faaso’s Jaydeep Barman.

The startup plans to use the funds to ramp up their engineering and marketing team, as well as further work on their recommendation engine, creating extended food ontologies, and improve the natural language processing engine that will help in user interaction as well as data collection.

Founded in 2014 by Hrishikesh Rajpathak and Sahil Khan, Quinto (formerly Dishoomit) is a crowdsourced dish discovery app, available on iOS and Android platform. It shows crowdsourced dish ratings, instead of restaurant ratings to help users discover good food around them.

The startup has around 5000 users with about 40% MAUs. They have limited their marketing activities for now so that they can figure out their market fit and the reason to go back to the drawing board for the new version with the personalized food recommendation engine.

One of the closest rival of Quinto is  Zomato, which deploys consumer ratings to suggest good restaurants.
