Bengaluru-based home healthcare firm, Portea Medical has expanded into the wellness segment with its new offering Portea Activ.

Talking about the product, CEO Meena Ganesh said, “The programme was launched 15 days ago and is currently being offered through Portea’s corporate tie-ups with about 30 companies across three cities.”

Portea Activ is an end-to-end health and fitness programme, which is expected to become a major business segment for the company.

Founded in 2013, by Meena Ganesh and her entrepreneur husband Krishnan Ganesh, Portea provides in-home medical care in India & Malaysia. It operates in more than 15 cities in India including Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, and Pune.

As per the CEO, Meena Ganesh, Portea is currently working with corporates to pilot this programme to identify people’s needs. It will be launched for the general public shortly.

“Using an AI bot we are able to create a database and a profile of the individual to recommend the right solutions and share a customised diet and fitness plan, which will be supplemented by interactions with experts,” Ganesh said.

Apart from the health-coaching programme, Portea will also source food items for users and deliver it in packages with a calorie count.

Prior to this in March 2016, Portea acquired home medical equipment service provider, Health Mantra India Pvt. Ltd in an undisclosed cash and stock deal.

The company picked up a majority stake in PSTakeCare, a healthtech startup in, January 2016. In November 2015, Portea acquired specialty pharmaceutical distributor MedybizPharma.

In September 2015, Portea received Series B funding of $37.5 Mn from Accel, IFC, Qualcomm Ventures, and Ventureast.
