Paytm has filed a lawsuit against Snapdeal-owned Unicommerce, an ecommerce management software and fulfilment solutions provider, in the Delhi high court, reported TOI. Online marketplace Snapdeal had acquired Unicommerce last year.
Paytm has accused Unicommerce for accessing confidential business data on its (Paytm’s) commerce platform via the sellers on this platform. Unicommerce is used by many sellers on Paytm’s platform for order management & inventory across multiple marketplaces and carts.
Apart from this, the mcommerce giant has also alleged that Unicommerce is using Paytm’s logo and name without any authorisation.
Marketplace players connect merchants to consumers through a digital platform. The information and data flowing through the platform are valuable, and companies want to keep it private. Data is of importance as it provides valuable insights on consumer behaviour.
Launched in 2012 by Ankit Pruthi, Karun Singla and Vibhu Garg, Unicommerce enables ecommerce merchants of all sizes to sell more by making it easy for them to manage selling at multiple marketplaces and carts. It’s flagship product, i.e. Uniware manages the complete order fulfillment lifecycle by providing updates and by automating everything from order placement by the customer till the time they receive their order. Its services have been used by ecommerce companies in the country including Myntra, Snapdeal, Jabong, Groupon among others.
