Stay Ahead With Daily News & Analysis on India’s Tech & Startup Economy
Wouldn’t it be great if courier picked up directly from your place so that you don’t have to face the scorching heat? Here is the perfect startup, Parcelled, which does this. It has raised funding from logistics firm Delhivery and Tracxn Labs. The Bangalore-based company will be using funds to strengthen its technology, back-end and expand to at least eight cities in the next six months.
The on-demand shipping startup helps users by letting them scheduling a pick up which is executed in 30 minutes. Packaging and paperwork are taken care by the startup. The company was founded by Xitij Kothi, Nikhil Bansal, Rikin Kacchia, Prateek Bhandari and Abhishek Srivastava. It claims that it caters 1000 orders a day and owns a fleet of 150 people on ground.
It has tied up with Delhivery as well as other courier partners including FedEx and DHL to ship the packages. The Indian logistics industry was valued at around $130Bn in 2012-13 and as more goods and services are consumed from the comfort of home the industry will continue to grow. Such startup offer first mile connectivity which is apparently non-existent in India and going to a local courier shop or a post office can be arduous.
