Indian cab & auto booking startup, Ola, is reported to tie up with tourist and chartered buses in order to offer shuttle bus services for urban commuters.

Ola’s bus service which is expected for a launch in the next two months will be integrated with company’s app allowing riders to choose between cab, auto and bus as mode of transportation.

Bhavish Aggarwal, cofounder & CEO of Ola had earlier explained how Ola is focusing on building mobility for a billion people. In a bid to emerge as an ultimate urban transport solutions provider, Ola has now paved its way to bus transportation by aggregating tourist and chartered buses on its platform.

A senior company executive commented that “much like how disruption happened in the taxi space, Ola will not own any buses but use available tourist and chartered buses to aggregate supply”. He further added that “Passengers will be able to make bookings by entering the desired destination and time preference; the app will then indicate the closest bus with available seating”.

Ola is presently valued at $2.5 Bn (INR 15,700 Cr) and has raised $700 Mn in funding from investors including Japan’s SoftBank and Russian billionaire Yuri Milner’s DST Global. The company has a diversified portfolio including categories like food and grocery delivery. Just today itself Ola launched its standalone mobile app for hyperlocal delivery.
