Cab hailing app Ola is testing waters with the third-party logistics service for businesses, using a fleet of two-wheelers and autorickshaws in Bangalore.
The company started with a pilot in February and is currently serving 30 to 40 restaurants. It is using the delivery fleets of now defunct Ola Store and Ola Cafe.
Ola’s grocery and daily needs app ‘Ola store’ was shut down in March 2016. While, its food-delivery service ‘Ola Cafe’ was also shut down during the same time.
Ola’s move is being compared to Uber’s express delivery service called UberRUSH in the US. However, unlike UberRUSH, which delivers anything from groceries and food to house supplies, Ola is currently servicing restaurants.
With Ola’s latest initiative in the B2Bservice, it comes in direct competition other B2B logistics service providers such as Roadrunnr, Shadowfax and Opinio.
