Mumbai-based Nazara Games‘ initiative Game Fund has invested an undisclosed amount in London-based mobile games studio TrulySocial. The round also saw participation from London Venture Partners and Drussila Hollanda-Gronberg (game lead at Supercell).

Founded by Sebastian Coman, TrulySocial is looking to create contemporary casual social world games for mobiles and tablets, mainly targeting women. As per the company, by the end of this year, the product will allow players to escape into a story driven and lifestyle-themed game.

“The women-centric genre is a very important space for us to target. There’s a largely untapped gaming audience in India and their product has the potential to gain over 1 Mn downloads in a relative short time-span, among women in both tier 2 and 3 (cities), as well as the metros,” said Manish Agarwal, CEO of Nazara Games.

Nazara is a mobile games developer and publisher, focused on the large mobile consumer base in India and worldwide. In addition to developing a range of branded and original mobile games, Nazara operates unique services such as “Games Club”. It also serves as an exclusive distributor for key game developers such as Electronic Arts. Its customers include mobile carriers as well as handset manufacturers. The company is a mobile content provider and games publisher, with HQ’s in India and offices in Dubai, London, Africa & Singapore.

Nazara has been on an aggressive growth path in the last three months, apart from adding key people in its coreteam. It is now attracting global gaming IPs such as ‘Cut the Rope’ of ZeptoLab to publish in India.

As for Game Fund, it invests in startups with an aim to support indie game developers and small game studios to bring their great game ideas into reality. The company has set apart a total amount of INR 5 Cr. to help great minds that need financial boost. Game Fund has invested in Bangalore-based mobile gaming startup HashCube.
