Pitching for the second green revolution in the country based on science, technology and modern inventions in the agricultural sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Kisan Suvidha app for the farmers.
The PM tweeted that the mobile app will provide information on weather, market prices, seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and agricultural machinery.

The announcement was made at an agricultural fair-cum-exhibition ‘Krishi Unnati Mela 2016’ at Delhi. The three days exhibition demonstrated agro-technologies for farmers in the direction of modernising agricultural practices with the extensive use of technology.
India is supposed to be the second largest smartphone market in the world with 87 Mn mobile internet users in rural areas. Owing to this growth, PM Modi is susceptible that the app will reach to millions of farmers.
Keeping its target audience in mind, the app is designed with a user-friendly interface consisting of important parameters to provide info on. The farmers can get critical and definite information on the weather forecast, dealers details to sell to, the market price of a commodity in nearest area, information to protect plants from pest, weed and diseases, and expert advice from farm experts. Besides, farmers can directly get in touch with Kisan call centre where technical graduates answer their queries.
PM Modi emphasised that the digital transformation in India will begin only if country’s farmers are empowered and villages are developed.
