Experts are of the opinion that the convergence of the physical and the digital world is the future of retail. Keeping at par with the latest trend in technology, Interaction One, a Bangalore-based startup driven by building innovative and memorable mobile experiences, has launched Mobmerry, an app that connects retailers to consumers, through the Internet of Things (IoT).

Mobmerry enables retailers to engage with their customers at a more efficient and convenient level through features such as product discovery, real-time notifications of new products, deals and discounts in the consumer’s nearby locality. The app sends advertisements of retail stores straight to the customer’s phone, thereby helping the customers to window shop the city virtually and driving them to their nearby store through targeted marketing, leveraging the help of GPS.

The app boasts about having an easy-to-use interface to provide a seamless experience for the user. It allows the merchant to showcase his/her products with a touch of a button. The app also provides the facility to push live marketing feeds directed to a specific target audience. As soon as a customer walks into a store, the app alerts the retailer of the customer’s basic details and preferences.

Through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) applications, also known as beacons, Interaction One plans to deploy over 1000 beacons across Bangalore. Celio, Guess, Jack & Jones, Lee, Vero Moda and Wrangler in Indiranagar are a few of the 30 stores that have come onboard for the pilot.

The Mobmerry account can be linked to a user’s Facebook account and enables the merchant to use analytics such as the consumer’s retail and dining likes to begin a productive conversation.

Beacons provide businesses with a large amount of consumer behaviour data analytics which includes how long a consumer spends in certain locations, which is the busiest day of the week for them, and the total number of people who are present in the location on a daily basis. With this information, retail owners can improvise on their businesses more efficiently and create more meaningful experiences for their customers.

Mobmerry has also partnered with Virtuous Retail, an institutionally owned developer-operator of community-oriented premium lifestyle shopping centres, to deploy over 300 beacons across the centre, to enhance the shopping experiences for customers of VR Bangalore on Whitefield Main Road.

Mobmerry’s focus as of now is on fashion and lifestyle. Apart from stores in Indiranagar, VR Bangalore, an upcoming mall near Mahadevapura has also been approached for the pilot.
