The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has set up an incubation centre ‘Electropreneur Park’ at University of Delhi, South Campus.
The centre has been set up in association with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Delhi University (DU), and Indian Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA).
It plans to incubate 50 early stage startups and create at least 5 global companies over a period of five years.
The Electropreneur Park was inaugurated on Saturday by Union Minister of Law & Justice and Electronics & Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad. Other dignitaries present at the occasion included MoS Law and Justice and Electronics & Information Technology P.P. Chaudhary; Professor Yogesh K Tyagi (Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi); Dr. Ajay Kumar (Additional, Secretary, MeitY); Rajiv Bansal (Joint Secretary MeitY); Dr. Omkar Rai (Director General, Software Technology Park of India); and Ashok Chandak (former Chairman, IESA & Member PMG of Electropreneur Park).
It will develop, promote, recruit, incubate, mentor, and create breakthrough innovations in the ESDM (Electronics System Design and Manufacturing) sector. It will focus on IP creation and product development to result in increased domestic value addition. The platform will also encourage R&D, innovation, entrepreneurship in the ESDM sector in India and provide assistance during prototyping, development and commercialisation for the products, conceptualised at Electropreneur Park.
The incubation centre will provide laboratories as per international standard, mentorship by industry veterans and academicians, efficient supply chain and assistance in the fields like taxation, legal, finance, accounting, patent search, training, business counselling, etc.
It will also provide access to funding agencies to facilitate seed funding for the promising ventures and ensure a smooth transition from an incubatee to a self-sufficient electronics company.
Electropreneur Park received over 175 applications for incubation, out of which six incubatees have already been onboarded. They are-
– Arogya Medtech Pvt. Ltd. – Cerebros® : Portable and low cost combination of neuro-imaging (EEG) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for stroke detection.
– Ceantra Technologies Pvt. Ltd.- Connected vehicle platform that enables monitoring of vehicle health, road safety and data driven online driver marketplace.
– Intutive Scientific Research & Evaluations Pvt. Ltd. – Multi-featured women safety IOT wearable which includes features of SoS message, audible alarm and self defence.
– Resonant Electronics Pvt. Ltd. – Smart modular switch boards, smart monitoring control panel boards and analytics for energy management and control system.
– Starbru Techsystems Pvt. Ltd. – A tactical Android wireless data card (TAWDC) can be interfaced with Indian Army radio for sending images.
– Stemrobo Technologies Pvt. Ltd. – Creating multiple electronic development and learning kits to be used in schools and institutes for skill development in the ESDM sector.
More incubatees are expected to join soon.
Initiatives such as ‘Make in India’, ‘Digital India’ along with ‘Startup India, Standup India’ launched by Government of India have reinforced its commitment towards the startup ecosystem in India. Last week, a senior Government delegation led by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met over 60 companies and received investment commitments of $13.5 Bn (INR 90,490 Cr) for State investments. The fund will focus on investment in sectors such as food processing, apparel, electronics manufacturing, gems & jewellery and renewable energy.
